Behind the installation

A system of layers,
carefully connected.

The timber-frame wall is more than the insulation between its studs. It is a sequence of layers with different jobs: limiting heat transmission, controlling air movement, managing moisture and providing space for internal services.

These photographs from TSK’s installation archive show insulation and membrane work before the finished internal surfaces. The battens form a service zone where included in the design.

For a bespoke home, early coordination helps establish where each layer runs, how it connects at junctions and how later trades will avoid damaging it. The exact materials and details must follow the project specification.
